Pay per Click
Pay per click is type of internet advertising which is used to direct internet traffic to a website. In this method ads are placed on websites and the advertiser will pay the website owner each time a visitor clicks on it. Most website owners will bid on a relevant keyword that will often be used on search engines by their target market.
The pay per click method originated in 1998 and was developed by Jeffrey Brewer with the concept being developed by Bill Gross. In 2002 the Adwords system got on board with pay per click and today the industry is worth more than £2 billion.
