Affiliate marketing is a practice that occurs when one business will reward its affiliates for driving traffic to their website. These rewards could be in the form of money or free gifts and successful affiliates can make significant profits from the right businesses. In affiliate marketing there are four main players, these are the business (brand, retailer), the network, the affiliate (the publisher) and the customers.
Affiliate marketing was really brought into major existence in 1996 when they allowed their affiliates to put links on their websites to books that could be bought on Amazon. Today the affiliate marketing industry is worth around £600 million and this figure is constantly rising.
